Strategist/Business owner
My name is Cat. I am a strategist, business owner, game creator, talker (and chronic over sharer) and mum. Despite being a strategist and planning things in detail for my clients as a career I rarely seem to manage the same for my own business, wandering through with the strategic nous of a drunken monkey at times! I didn't intend to be a business owner. I "rage launched" my business after my ex-husband stopped paying child support and my boss refused to give me a well deserved pay rise. Not for mention on the podcast, but earlier this year I hired said ex-husband to work for me which felt like a pretty good full circle! My goal was to make the $10,000 I felt they owed me. We launched an At Home Edition for lockdown last year 5 days before going in to lockdown. In that time we managed to design, print and send games to hundreds of kiwi families - and when we went into lockdown we turned it in to a digital edition. From our one original game we now have 15 Getting Lost Editions and we’ve sold over 35,000 Games. So what is the Getting Lost Game? The Getting Lost Game gives you a way to rebel against the increasingly curated digital lives we find ourselves living. Google knows where we want to go after typing only a few letters, Instagram leads us to the same place as everyone else and GPS makes sure we are never lost. In a digital world we've forgotten how to just wander for nothing more than the joy of wandering and exploring.
What do you do if you’ve had a few too many “no’s” recently and you need to find an extra ten thousand dollars? Well for Cat and her husband, the answer was simple. Start a business. Cat and her husband …
